On November 15, 2011, the first meeting of the governing board for the Japan Association for the International Horticultural Expo 2027, Yokohama, the organization which will handle operations for World Horticultural Exhibition 2027 Yokohama, was held to officially establish the Association.
A ceremony commemorating the Association’s establishment was held afterward. This was attended by special guests Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism SAITO Tetsuo and Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries KANEKO Genjiro, both of whom gave addresses to those in attendance.
