Message
Flowers have always held a special place in my heart. I have spent years capturing them through my lens, unable to resist whenever I find one in bloom. Their beauty, their fragility, and the overwhelming vitality they embody have moved me time and time again.
That is why I am truly delighted to be involved in GREEN×EXPO 2027. As one of the creators helping to shape this experience, I will give my very best to create immersive experiences that allow people to feel the energy of flowers and plants, and to discover breathtaking scenes that can be found nowhere else.
Profile
Primarily focusing on photography, Mika Ninagawa also extensively works in film, video, and spatial expression. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the prestigious Kimura Ihei Photography Award. In 2010, she published a photo book through Rizzoli in New York. As a film director, she has directed five feature films to date, including “Helter Skelter” (2012) and “Diner” (2019), as well as the Netflix original series “Followers” (2020).
In recent years, she has expanded her range of expression under the moniker "Mika Ninagawa with EiM," collaborating with the creative team EiM to produce large-scale installations.
She continues to dynamically present her work both in Japan and internationally, having published over 120 photo books and held more than 150 solo exhibitions and 130 group exhibitions to date. Her solo exhibition "NINAGAWA Mika with EiM: Lights of the beyond, Shadow of this world ," held at the Kyoto City Kyocera Museum of Art from January to March 2025, attracted 250,000 visitors.
Her latest photo books include “VIRA” (bookshop M Co., Ltd., 2025) and “mirror, mirror, mirror” (Mitsumura Suiko Shoin, 2026).

Creative Team
EiM is a creative team formed by scientist and artistic director Hiroaki Miyata, creative director Isao Kuwana, lighting director Koshiro Ueno, and others. The team works by assembling a diverse lineup of members for each project.

① Observation Facility: TAISEI GREEN TERRACE
TAISEI GREEN TERRACE is a hill-shaped observation facility sponsored by the TAISEI CORPORATION GROUP and constructed within the Expo site. A garden featuring a diverse combination of flowers and plants will be created on the upper section, while an LED installation will be placed below, bringing together flowers and greenery, light and imagery, and the warmth of wood into a single immersive experience. By combining the art of Mika Ninagawa with EiM and the construction and environmental technologies of the TAISEI CORPORATION GROUP, the facility aims to become a landmark where visitors can experience the beauty of nature and the diversity of life.
② Projection Mapping: Bank of Yokohama Projection Mapping
Sponsored by The Bank of Yokohama, Ltd., this projection mapping installation will project images onto a structure in the Farm & Food Village. Featuring visuals and sound created by Mika Ninagawa with EiM, this installation will illuminate the nights of GREEN×EXPO 2027, bringing new life to a structure steeped in history.
